I’ve been looking for the perfect keyboard for my desk for awhile now. I have always been mindful of how much space the things i use everyday at my desk take up, so that led to me becoming a 75% keyboard person for years. I never noticed how much i truly enjoy having a numberpad and have been looking at getting a larger keyboard. I bit the bullet and spent a pretty penny on the K98 Pro….and I must say it was worth every bit of the 200 plus dollars i spent. The quality is top tear and the rgb lights are perfect for me and not overly saturated. I enjoy the THOCKY sound of the keys…it’s not too loud or too quiet. I am already considering buying another one for work.
Me llegó un día antes, hermoso teclado, suena hermoso, es muy pesado, se siente muy premium, lo amo con toda mi vida
At £250, this is the most expensive keyboard I've ever purchased, and I'll say upfront — it largely justifies that price tag. This is not an impulse buy, but for those willing to invest, the experience is genuinely something special.
Build & Quality:
The aluminium alloy chassis is immediately striking, and the weight is the first thing you notice when it arrives. This thing is *solid* — noticeably heavier than other aluminium keyboards I've used, which actually inspires confidence rather than concern. It feels like it could survive a house move without complaint. The Phantom Black finish looks bold and futuristic on a desk, and the metal feet and adjustable tilt angles add a premium, considered touch. One notable disappointment: it ships in US layout rather than UK, which is worth flagging for British buyers before purchasing.
Performance & Practicality:
Typing on it is a genuine pleasure. The switches deliver a satisfying, deep "thuck" with clear tactile feedback, while remaining comfortable enough that extended sessions don't punish the fingers — a rare balance between mechanical responsiveness and low-profile ease. The 98% compact layout keeps a near-full key set while reclaiming some desk real estate, and hot-swap support is a welcome feature for those who like to tinker. The TFT display is a fun addition and the web-based driver approach means no bloated software sitting in the system tray — a refreshing choice.
Real-World Impressions:
Setup was pleasingly straightforward — Windows handled drivers automatically. The firmware update process, however, required three separate downloads rather than a single unified installer, which felt unnecessarily fiddly. The RGB lighting is vibrant and highly customisable, though key legend shine-through could be stronger; in a dark room the letters aren't always as legible as one would hope. That said, dialling the brightness to the right level does provide workable illumination even in pitch black, so it's a minor gripe rather than a dealbreaker. Portability is not really this keyboard's calling — the substantial weight means it's best treated as a permanent desk fixture.
Verdict:
For the price, this keyboard delivers a premium, confidence-inspiring experience that's hard to fault in any meaningful way. A few small niggles — US-only layout, the multi-step firmware process, and so-so key legend visibility — prevent it from being quite perfect, but none of them diminish the core experience. For those seeking a high-performance, beautifully built mechanical keyboard, this is an outstanding choice.
The first thing I noticed when picking up this keyboard was the weight. It is HEAVY. Between the aluminum construction and overall build quality, this feels less like a typical computer peripheral and more like a piece of equipment that could last a lifetime.
Performance has been equally impressive. The keys are smooth and responsive, and the keyboard feels great for both typing and gaming. Wireless performance has also been excellent, and having wired USB-C, 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth connectivity gives you plenty of flexibility.
The styling is definitely going to be a matter of personal preference. This is much more heavily embellished than a conventional keyboard, with the aluminum exoskeleton, lighting, display, and other design elements giving it a very distinctive sci-fi appearance. It certainly isn't subtle, but I think it looks extremely cool.
My only real complaint isn't with the keyboard itself, but the packaging. A significant amount of the packaging is foam rubber rather than easily recyclable cardboard or molded paper. It protects this very heavy keyboard well during shipping, but I would have preferred a more environmentally friendly solution.
Overall, this is an exceptionally well-built and responsive keyboard. If you like the distinctive styling, the construction quality makes it feel like a premium product that's built to last.
The keys have a really nice, soft tactile feedback that makes the keyboard comfortable to type on for long periods without my hands feeling tired. The lighting is also a great feature. There are different configurations to choose from, so you can customize how the keyboard lights up depending on what you like.
One of my favorite features is the built-in screen. It’s genuinely useful and not something you see on most keyboards, so it helps this one stand out.
The color looks great in person, and the keyboard feels very solid and well made. It is definitely on the heavier and larger side, though. I primarily use a laptop, and the keyboard is almost as large as the laptop itself, so it takes up quite a bit of desk space. Because of the size and weight, I think this is especially well suited for someone with a dedicated PC gaming setup rather than someone looking for a compact laptop accessory.
Overall, it feels comfortable, looks great, and has some really fun and useful features. Definitely a great option for a gamer!
This is a really nice keyboard. I love how smooth it typed and the sound it makes. It’s very well made and it’s a really good price for this brand. It’s light weight but not cheap feeling. Easy to use and click the keys. I had no issues with connecting it to my PC and my games work perfectly. I’m very happy. It doesn’t lag or anything. It’s literally perfect. I also love the dark color and how it lights up. Love this keyboard.
I first became interested in GravaStar because their products always have such a futuristic and unique design. I’m not a gamer, but I’ve always liked gaming-style peripherals, especially the RGB lighting and visual effects. Their products definitely stand out from the typical keyboard and mouse setup.
This probably isn’t going to be the kind of review gamers are looking for, since I’m not evaluating it from a competitive gaming perspective. But if you’re more like me and want something unique for a trading desk or productivity setup, the K98 Pro is a very interesting keyboard.
What made the K98 Pro especially appealing to me is that this is GravaStar’s first full-size keyboard with a number pad. I do a lot of day trading, so having dedicated number keys is much more practical for me than a compact gaming keyboard. I also paired it with my Stream Deck, and together they make a very functional trading setup while still keeping that futuristic look.
The first thing you notice when taking this keyboard out of the box is the weight. It is heavy, and the materials feel very solid. At this price, I would expect premium construction, and it does feel like a substantial piece of hardware rather than a lightweight plastic keyboard.
What surprised me the most, though, was the typing experience. I have used other GravaStar keyboards, including the K1 Lite, and I never noticed this kind of difference before. The keys on the K98 Pro feel extremely light, smooth, and responsive. It takes very little pressure for a keystroke to register, and when typing quickly, the keyboard feels like it keeps up with my fingers immediately. I’m currently using it over Bluetooth and can still clearly notice how responsive it feels.
The sound is also very different from the traditional mechanical keyboard “typewriter” sound. It has more of a smooth, creamy, slightly deeper sound rather than a loud clicky sound. Combined with the smooth key travel, it makes typing very satisfying.
The biggest consideration is definitely the price. This is not a cheap keyboard, and part of what you are paying for is the GravaStar design, RGB effects, solid materials, and overall presentation. But after actually using it, I can also see that the difference is not just cosmetic. The build quality and especially the light, responsive typing feel are noticeably different from the less expensive keyboards I have used.
If you are a serious gamer, there are probably other technical details you will care more about. But if you want a full-size keyboard with a number pad, very solid construction, responsive typing, RGB effects, and a design that makes your trading desk look completely different from a typical office setup, the K98 Pro is a great fit.
I picked up the GravaStar Mercury K98 Pro 98-key wireless mechanical gaming keyboard (tri-mode, hot-swappable), and after extended use I can give a clear comparison against the older Razer BlackWidow V1 and V2 keyboards I’ve used for years. This is a very different experience from those classic clicky boards, both in sound and overall design philosophy.
Switch Feel & Sound Profile
The most noticeable difference is the sound and feedback. Where the Razer BlackWidow V1/V2 Green switches produce a sharp, loud “click-click” that many of us grew up with, the Mercury K98 Pro is much more muted. The stock switches give a deeper “thunk-thunk” sound rather than a crisp click. This is largely due to the internal foam noise suppression, which does a good job of reducing hollowness and case ping but also takes away a lot of the auditory feedback I personally prefer.
That said, the keys feel very fast and responsive. Actuation is clean, return is snappy, and the board is clearly tuned for speed rather than the heavy tactile punch of older Razer Greens. For gaming the responsiveness is excellent — it feels modern and efficient. For typing, it’s pleasant but less satisfying if you’re someone who specifically wants that loud, classic mechanical click.
Layout, Build & Ergonomics
The 98-key layout is a smart middle ground between full-size and 96%/TKL. You keep the number pad and essential navigation keys without the bulk of a full 104-key board. Build quality is solid with a rigid frame and good stabilizers.
One clear frustration: there is no meaningful way to tilt the keyboard upward. The rear feet/legs do not elevate the board to a useful typing angle. Coming from older BlackWidows that had proper kickstands, this is a noticeable step backward in ergonomics for long sessions. The board sits relatively flat, which some people like, but I prefer a positive tilt.
Display, Accessories & Customization
The small screen is a nice modern touch. It automatically adjusts and displays the time, which is a convenient little feature that actually gets used.
Hot-swap support is well implemented. The keyboard includes extra switches, a switch puller, and the necessary tools, making it easy to experiment. It also came with a spare green spacebar, which I swapped in immediately because I preferred it over the stock smoke-colored keycap. That kind of inclusion is appreciated.
The included braided cable is good quality, and they supply a USB-A to C adapter as well. I do wish they had included an aviator-style connector for easier cable swapping, but the stock braided cord is perfectly usable and feels durable.
Wireless Performance (Tri-Mode)
Tri-mode connectivity (2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, and wired) works as expected. The 2.4 GHz connection is stable and low-latency for gaming, while Bluetooth is fine for general productivity. Switching between modes is straightforward. Battery life has been strong in mixed use.
Comparison Summary vs Razer BlackWidow V1/V2
Sound: Much quieter and more “thunky” than the classic loud Green click
Feel: Faster and lighter, less pronounced tactile feedback
Features: Modern (hot-swap, screen, tri-mode, foam dampening) vs the simpler, louder older Razers
Ergonomics: Lacks proper tilt/elevation compared to the older BlackWidows
Customization: Clearly superior with hot-swap and included tools/spare keycaps
Pros
Very fast and responsive key feel
Solid tri-mode wireless performance
Useful info screen with auto time
Full hot-swap support with tools and extra switches included
Spare green spacebar is a nice touch
Good braided cable + USB-A to C adapter
Cons
Sound is muted by foam (more thunk than click) — not ideal if you want loud feedback
No proper rear elevation/tilt option
No aviator cable
Loses some of the classic mechanical character of older BlackWidow boards
Who it’s for
Great for users who want a modern, fast, feature-rich 98% wireless mechanical keyboard with hot-swap flexibility and don’t mind a quieter, more damped sound signature. Less ideal if you specifically love the loud, sharp click of older Razer Green switches or need strong positive tilt for ergonomics.
Overall, the GravaStar Mercury K98 Pro is a well-executed modern mechanical keyboard with excellent responsiveness, thoughtful extras, and strong wireless performance. It just takes a very different sonic and ergonomic approach from the classic Razer BlackWidow V1/V2. If you can live with the quieter “thunk” and the lack of tilt, it’s a capable and customizable board. If you still crave that loud click-click and a raised typing angle, the older BlackWidow style may still feel more satisfying.
This is the daddy of Gravastars keyboards and it’s clear to see and feel why as soon as you remove it from the box. It is super heavy and solid! Wow, you could wield this keyboard it’s that substantial. It feels rock solid and it has the similar design that other gravastar keyboards have, the alien claw style feet look cool, they do only have a couple of positions so the height isn’t that customisable really. Even the feet have LED lighting that’s where this board really shows off. It’s fully customisable and the colours can be tweaked online whilst using it or manually by pressing shortcut keys to change colours etc. I’ve tried a few of these boards and this is my favourite, the keys are nice sounding without being so loud they annoy the neighbours. The keys are also easy to identify quickly, some markings are barely visible but thankfully this one is super clear, one of the reasons it is my choice to use at the moment. Easy to type on and it has the extra number board which I like when inputting data. Keys are responsive and can also be customised to adjust. Value for money… well it’s not cheap is it, but stuff worth having rarely is. It’s so nice and being rechargeable makes it attractive. Finally not forgetting the LED display! Wow, I haven’t been able to customise it myself but the options are there for that personal touch, I’ve not seen anything like this before. It’s definitely a keyboard to show off and by far the easiest one from gravastar to use fully so far.
GravaStars' flagship mechanical gaming keyboard, the K98 8K mechanical is a revelation. It is expensive, yes, but worth every single penny.
First impressions are amazing, with it's shiny foiled covered slipcase and impressive packaging. Always love a good first impression and GravaStar certainly haven't skimped here.
The phantom black keyboard looks fantastic too, and that's even before it has been plugged in. You have a choice of connections, hard wired, dongle and Bluetooth. I went for hard wired with the provided USB-C cable. There is a small, yet functional, TFT screen, but remember you have to download the driver for this. It's pretty much useless if you don't. Worth seeking out the driver.
The feet are amazing, both in terms of aesthetics, but also from a practical point of view. They allows the keyboard to be placed at different angles. They are sturdy and keep the keyboard in place, even during the most furious action.
The RGB colour modes are great and you can customise these directly from your browser. They look amazing in low light and in darkness. Super quality.
The chassis is a glossy aluminium, which is great for the environment as 75% of all aluminium ever created in still in use today. It is a really good sustainable material.
The keyboard is super responsive and amazing to use, not just in gaming, but also just day-to-day typing. The key action is superb, thanks to the linear switches. A beautiful typing action.
Really, despite trying I cannot find ONE drawback to this superb keyboard from GravaStar. A true revelation.
The GravaStar Mercury K98 Pro is an excellent wireless mechanical gaming keyboard and another impressive addition to my setup. The 98-key layout provides a great balance between the functionality of a larger keyboard and the space-saving benefits of a more compact design. It includes the keys I want for gaming, work, and everyday typing without taking up as much room as a traditional full-size keyboard.
The wireless design helps keep my desk clean and organized, while still providing a responsive and enjoyable typing experience. The mechanical keys feel smooth and satisfying, making the keyboard comfortable to use whether I am gaming, writing, or handling everyday computer tasks. The layout is practical, and I appreciate having more functionality without sacrificing too much desk space.
As with other GravaStar products, the design is one of the biggest highlights. The Mercury K98 Pro has a unique, futuristic appearance that stands out from ordinary gaming keyboards. It feels stylish, well designed, and premium, making it something I am happy to keep visible on my desk rather than hide away.
Overall, this keyboard combines a useful 98-key layout, wireless convenience, responsive mechanical performance, and GravaStar’s distinctive design. It looks great, performs well, and is a fantastic choice for gaming, work, and anyone who wants a keyboard that feels different from the usual options. 5 stars!
This keyboard is very good. Used for my streaming pc & keyboard gives it that added extra touch.
Love the product. Super clean and smooth button mashing.
Awesome keyboard, nice design. Smooth switches. No issues with any of the wireless connectivity
I have gone back and forth between compact keyboards and full-size boards for years because I like reclaiming desk space, but I also use the numpad often enough that I eventually miss it. The 98% layout on the Mercury K98 Pro feels like a really good compromise. I still get a dedicated numpad, function row, and basically everything I expect from a full-size keyboard, but the keys are pulled together tightly enough that it does not eat nearly as much horizontal space.
Typing on it is excellent straight out of the box. The pre-lubed UFO linear switches are very smooth, with none of the scratchiness I sometimes expect from stock switches, and the gasket mount gives each keystroke a slightly cushioned feel rather than a hard bottom-out. The sound is deep and controlled with that creamy, lower-pitched character people usually describe as “thocky,” but without sounding hollow or overly muted. GravaStar clearly put some effort into the internal dampening because the board sounds unusually finished without needing to immediately open it up and start adding foam.
The build is equally impressive. At over three pounds, this thing feels substantial the second you pick it up, and the aluminum alloy exterior gives it a much more premium feel than the typical plastic gaming keyboard. The Phantom Black finish and exposed, almost mechanical-looking frame lean heavily into GravaStar’s cyberpunk aesthetic. It is definitely not subtle, but that is kind of the point. The RGB and side lighting work especially well with the design because they illuminate all of those little edges and cutouts instead of simply glowing underneath the keycaps.
I also really like having the small TFT display and physical knob. The screen is not something I desperately needed on a keyboard, but being able to show system information or a custom animation is fun and suits the overall design. The knob is much more practical. I use it constantly for volume, and having a tactile control is faster than reaching for a function shortcut. The web-based customization is another nice touch because I can change lighting, remap keys, and set macros without installing yet another piece of background software.
Wireless performance has been excellent. I normally use 2.4GHz at my desk, and it feels just as responsive as I would expect from a wired gaming keyboard. Bluetooth is handy when I want to jump over to another device, while USB-C is there when I want a completely wired setup or need to charge. The advertised 8K polling in both wired and 2.4GHz mode is impressive on paper, but I would be lying if I said I could consistently distinguish 8K from a good 1K connection in normal use. What I can say is that input feels immediate and stable, and I have not noticed missed presses or wireless hiccups.
Battery life has also been very good, particularly if I turn the RGB down or off. GravaStar rates it for up to 228 hours in 1K mode with lighting off and 166 hours at 8K, so this is not a keyboard I am constantly plugging in every few days. Obviously lighting brightness and polling rate can cut into that pretty substantially, but even with RGB enabled I have found charging to be an occasional chore rather than part of the daily routine.
Hot-swap support gives me some room to experiment later, although I honestly do not feel much urgency to replace the stock switches because they are already so smooth. Between the switch feel, dampening, gasket mount, and overall construction, this is one of those keyboards that feels properly tuned out of the box instead of like a kit that still needs another afternoon of modifications.
At about $260, this is absolutely premium keyboard money. There are excellent mechanical boards for much less, so the value is really tied to whether you care about the aluminum construction, elaborate styling, screen, knob, tri-mode wireless, huge battery, and 8K support all being in one package. If you just want something that types well, this is overkill. If you want a keyboard that feels like a centerpiece of the setup while still being genuinely excellent to type and game on, the K98 Pro delivers.
Such an amazing keyboard. Fluid, responsive and looks fantastic. Has a nice weight to it that keeps it very stable during intense gaming sessions, and can be propped up for a comfortable time. Looks so good and can be adjusted to your preference. Fantastic quality.
When I first unboxed the GravaStar Mercury K98 Pro, I was blown away by the industrial cyberpunk design. The skeletonized aluminum alloy frame gives it an aggressive, premium weight on the desk, looking like a piece of gear pulled directly out of a high-tech sci-fi lab. The overall durability of this frame is exceptional; it feels incredibly dense, rugged, and built to withstand years of heavy daily use without any flex.
Out of the box, the acoustics and tactile feel are incredible. The combination of the gasket mount system and multi-layer dampening foam gives each keystroke a deep, satisfying "thock" without any metallic pinging or hollow echoes. The factory pre-lubed UFO linear switches slide with zero effort, making high-speed typing and twitch-reflex gaming feel completely effortless.
Performance and connectivity options go well beyond standard mechanical boards. With Bluetooth 5.4, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired USB-C, switching between multiple devices is entirely seamless. The 8000Hz polling rate in both wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes keeps input latency practically non-existent. Having the built-in 1.65-inch TFT display and control knob is a fantastic touch; setting up system stats and custom GIFs through the web driver is quick and painless without having to install bloated background software.
The lighting effects are top-tier as well. The per-key RGB backlighting and ambient side-glow are remarkably vibrant, casting a rich glow through the open skeletonized chassis. Even with those bright lighting features active, the massive 8000mAh battery easily keeps everything running for days on end without needing a recharge.
Given the premium materials, top-of-the-line feature set, and unique aesthetic, the value for money here is outstanding for anyone looking for a flagship desk setup centerpiece. The 98-key layout strikes the perfect balance by retaining the numpad while leaving plenty of room for wide mouse movements. Between the dense build quality, creamy acoustic profile, and distinct styling, this board easily stands out as one of the best choices currently on the whole market. 🛸⌨️
